Xia\, a reporter for the Los Angeles Times\, talks to Indigenous leaders\, community activists\, small-town mayors\, environmental scientists\, and other voices who are forging a climate-wise future. \n You don’t need to read the entire book to join the meeting. You may wish to read just Chapter 3\, which focuses on Pacifica\, home to several of our League members. Or dip into another chapter that interests you. Don’t have time to read a single page? Her journey through homelessness in the early 2000s led her to envision and create for herself – and now assist others to create – a stable work environment where one job is enough and housing is a protected right\, like domestic water use.  \nShe works with local groups such as MPC Ready\, YIMBY Action\, Menlo Together\, and CERT with Menlo Park Fire. Most recently\, Jenny helped Menlo Park submit their 6th Housing Element. DESCRIPTION:The League of Women Voters of Monterey County will present a free talk titled: “Election Options–Ranked Choice Voting” at a live-streamed “Lunch and Learn” Meeting at noon on Wednesday\, April 10\, 2024.\n\n\nRanked Choice Voting (RCV) is a different way to tally voter preferences. It allows second\, third and lower choices to be counted as lower ranked candidates are eliminated. Ranked Choice Voting is being used in general elections in 16 states. This presentation will explain RCV and how it can change elections.\n\n\nArash Sayadi and Steve Chessin will be co-speakers at this Zoom presentation. \n  \n\n\nArash Sayadi is an Executive Board Member and Head of Operations of CalRCV. He runs his own consulting practice\, TalVeo\, which provides IT and Operations Consulting to nonprofit\, nonpartisan political reform organizations. \n  \n\n\n\nSteve Chessin is President of Californians for Electoral Reform (CfER). He has been active with the League of Women Voters\, and in the California League’s adoption of a position supporting RCV.
