She currently serves as the Chief Communications Officer for the South Orange County Community College District. \n Clark is also a bestselling and award-winning author with her 2021 release of a children’s book titled Mommy is the Mayor and a 2023 self-help book titled Baby’s Room to the Board Room: A guide for working moms on how to transition from bottle feeding to boss moves. \n Clark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Xavier University of Louisiana\, a Master of Arts degree in Public Policy from New England College and a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from the John F. Save the date to attend Lunch with League on Wednesday\, Feb. 21st.\n \nBio:\n\nDavid Pepper is a lawyer\, writer\, political activist\, former elected official\, adjunct professor\, and served as the chair of a major political party in Ohio from 2015 to 2021. In that role\, he was engaged in numerous battles and extensive litigation over voter suppression and election laws in the Buckeye State\, as well as reform efforts to enhance voting and end gerrymandering.   \nPepper regularly appears on MSNBC\, CNN and C-SPAN discussing these issues.  He serves as a Senior Fellow with the Kettering Foundation\, helping the Foundation advance its mission of supporting pro-inclusive democracy. He also teaches election and voting rights law as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law.  \nBorn and raised in Cincinnati\, David is a fifth-generation Cincinnatian who served on the Cincinnati City Council from 2001 to 2005 and the Hamilton County Commission from 2006 to 2010. DESCRIPTION:Q&A Session for the February 19 Meeting: \nPlease join us for a Q&A session with Jenny Michel\, who will speak to her personal and professional expertise navigating the path from homeless to housed. \nJenny is a commercial property manager at Cushman & Wakefield\, with over 20 years of experience in the local real estate industry. Her journey through homelessness in the early 2000s led her to envision and create for herself – and now assist others to create – a stable work environment where one job is enough and housing is a protected right\, like domestic water use.  \nShe works with local groups such as MPC Ready\, YIMBY Action\, Menlo Together\, and CERT with Menlo Park Fire. Most recently\, Jenny helped Menlo Park submit their 6th Housing Element. SUMMARY:“The Equal Rights Amendment - The Centennial and the Big Picture”
DESCRIPTION:The League of Women Voters of Monterey Count will present a free talk titled:  TheEqual Rights Amendment – The Centennial and the Big Picture” at a live-streamed “Lunch and Learn” Meeting on Wednesday\, January 10\, 2024. \nWe will celebrate the Centennial of the ERA with this presentation by Zoe Nicholson.  It is a virtual\, live program of information about the ERA- what it says\, who wrote it and what it would do. What is the hold up? What can you do about it? Learn about the ERA history through pictures\, stories and an extensive Q and A.  \nGuest speaker is Zoe Nicholson\, an artist\, author and activist. Her life’s devotion is the advancement of women and girls. Her obsession is Miss Alice Paul and the Equal Rights Amendment. In 1982\, she joined six women at the Illinois state capital to publicly fast in support of the Equal Rights Amendment. Her memoir\, from Lune Soleil Press\, “TheHungry Heart: A Woman’s Fast for Justice\,” recounts her 37 days fasting in the torrent of the fight for the ERA. In January 2019\, she was featured on PBS’ We’ll Meet Again with Anne Curry. Zoe is featured in the film\, Still Working 9 to 5\, starring Parton\, Fonda and Tomlin. Zoe’s one woman show\, Tea with Alice and Me\, tells the story of Alice Paul\, architect of the 19th Amendment and the Equal Rights Amendment as well as Zoe’s life as an activist.  \nAll current LWVMC members will be sent a link to the Zoom meeting on January 9th.
