California Advocacy Google Group

Moderators: Joanne Leavitt, LWVC Vice President for Advocacy and Program, and Trudy Schafer, Sr. Director for Program. The lwvc-advocacy group is a forum for discussion of League action. California Budget Reform Yahoo Group

California Children and Family Issues Google Group

Moderators: Joanne Leavitt, LWVC Vice President for Advocacy and Program, and Trudy Schafer, Sr. Director for Program. The issues discussed by the children and family issues group include early care and education, juvenile courts, foster care, and other related topics. California Communications Facebook and Yahoo Groups

If you want to promote communications best practices, provide training and support, and build your skills, volunteer! The communications Facebook group is more informal, and a great way to get to know us, ask questions, and socialize. Members can ask to join the state Communications Committee, which is more formal. It does its work via this LWVC Communications Committee Yahoo group.

California Education Pre-K thru 12 Yahoo Group

California Policing Practices Google Group

Moderator: Sarah Diefendorf, LWV California Director. At our 2017 Convention the LWV Los Angeles hosted a caucus about policing practices. A number of delegates attended and also showed their support during plenary. In response to this interest, the new Policing Practices Google Group is intended to be a peer-to-peer forum for Leagues to discuss relevant League positions, education opportunities, and possible concurrence or study at all levels of League. California Program Planning Yahoo Group

Moderator: Helen Hutchison, LWVC President. The California Program Planning listserv is for discussion of potential program planning ideas with other League members. All League members are invited to join. It’s a place to encourage others to join your cause, try out an idea, discuss various proposals, find help to refine a rough idea. The sustainability Yahoo group focuses on activities local Leagues are engaged in, and news, events, and issues related to sustainability and the environment. This is an opportunity for local Leagues to share ideas about what works and what doesn't work, successful or unsuccessful forums or workshops, speaker or reading recommendations, legislative action, finding matching funds--you name it!

Some members subscribe to LWVTopics, a somewhat controversial discussion group created by and for members, dedicated to discussion of issues concerning LWV policies, programs and procedures. This is not an official group of the national League.
