DESCRIPTION:California Redistricting – The League of Women Voters at Work\n April 16\, 2024\nNoon-1:30 Zoom\nHelen Hutchinson\, Program Director for Government for the LWV California\nWith ‘At Large’ elections being increasingly replaced by district elections\, from school boards to hospital districts\, Leagues across the state have had to step up to ensure that redistricting  is being done fairly and with transparency. Our League was deeply involved in the most recent redistricting of San Mateo County Supervisor districts. Last year\, at County League Day\, both Leagues adopted redistricting as an issue for emphasis\, in part because of the lessons learned from that experience. \nPlease join our meeting on April 16th to hear Helen Hutchinson\, a past President of the League of Women Voters of California and its current Program Director. Helen will showcase the redistricting work the League has been doing at both state and local levels.  We will come away with a deeper understanding of how we can drive effective change in our County.

DESCRIPTION:Saving Democracy: California’s Important Role in 2024 and Beyond\nThe LWVC Development Committee invites attendees to a virtual fundraiser on April 28th\, featuring keynote speaker Sandra Fluke.  \nSandra Fluke is the President of Voices for Progress and an attorney specializing in policy and legislative advocacy for progressive causes. She is known for her congressional testimony on birth control access under the Affordable Care Act. She currently serves on various boards and organizations and is a political partner with the Truman National Security Project. \nRegister now \nIn addition to the speaker\, the LWVC Action Auction will be held until April 30th\, supporting the LWVC action fund and featuring various services and items. \n  \nTickets for the event cost $10\, but donations are strongly encouraged\, and all funds raised will support the League of Women Voters of California’s advocacy efforts.
