Voting groups allege California government officials violated law

Four voting groups are suing California government officials, alleging violation of federal law.

The League of Women Voters of California, Acce Institute, California Common Cause and National Council of La Raza filed a complaint May 9 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Transportation Secretary Brian P. Kelly, Motor Vehicles Director Jean Shiomoto and California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, alleging they violated and continue to violate the 1993 National Voter Registration Act.
