In their Program Planning responses, Local Leagues listed many specific different concerns and issues, some of which overlap, or can be grouped together. Here are the issues identified — under those broad umbrella topics.
Healthcare & Mental Health including: advocacy for healthcare for all, and/or improved affordability and access to MediCal. Ensuring that all communities in California have access to health and wellness services. Advocacy to improve community-based services to meet the needs of both community members and providers, especially vulnerable populations.
Update study on Mental Health. A new or updated position to allow for broader community advocacy – and its intersection with other positions.
Meeting Basic Needs including: food security; high quality and comprehensive health care under a single payer system; housing; the right to privacy; equal rights for all, including the ERA; security for immigrants; environmental justice and greater income equality.
PreK-12 Education. Address solutions to improve student outcomes impacted by pandemic, disasters, homelessness, and other social conditions.
Identity Equity: opposition to racist hate speech and actions; intimidation of voters, especially of minorities; reproductive rights; transgender care, especially for youth and safety for all 2 Spirit/LGBTQIA+ people.
Foster Youth and other young adults with challenges.
Insurance, including diminishing availability in fire prone areas and increases in premiums that surpass ability to pay
