When did you become a Leaguer?

I have been a Leaguer for over 10 years, and I don’t remember the exact year I started.  I feel like I have always been a Leaguer.

What does the idea of strength mean to you?

Strength is such a wide open word but I would focus on the will to confront difficult and/or uncomfortable ideas, issues and/or circumstances head on and to marshal the resources to deal with them.

How do you harness your strength to take action?

I try to determine what the best course of action is to resolve the situation and then move forward.

What are you most proud of doing?

I find it difficult to select one thing as the best of anything. With that caveat being stated, I am very proud of leading the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Westside Coalition to organize and present our wonderful annual birthday celebrations in Santa Monica that are routinely attended by 500 or more people and always well received.

What did you dream of doing when you were young?

As a youngster, I enjoyed family outings, traveling to visit new places and enjoying each day as it came.  As a youngster, I wanted to continue to do those things in the future.

Who are your role models?

I have a lot of them, some of whom are parents and family members.  Some of those not related to me are:  Harriet Tubman, Maya Angelou, Michelle and Barack Obama, Eleanor Roosevelt, Queen Elizabeth.

Brag about yourself. How has your strength and action influenced the League?

This is a tough one.  I hope that my ability to listen to what others are saying and synthesizing their comments has helped us to more fully develop policies and ideas that we agree to develop in our Santa Monica League as well as on the DEI committee.
