Karen is a Director of the League of Women Voters of California. She joined LWV North County San Diego in 2016, and became an active member of LWVNCSD volunteering at voter services events. She previously served on LWV Tarrant County, Fort Worth, Texas Board 2009-2012. She served as Voter Services Chair and implemented Vote 411 for the local League. Karen currently serves on the American Association of University Women Del Mar Leucadia Board as Fund Director. She was previously Program Chair and President of AAUW Tarrant County in Fort Worth, Texas.
She grew up in Danville, Indiana, completed a BA in English/Psychology at Milligan College in Johnson City, TN, and an MA in English at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. She taught English in Marion, IN. When she relocated to Fort Worth, TX, she taught freshman writing at Tarrant County College and Texas Christian University. The next 24 years, until retirement, Karen was Executive Director of American Institute of Banking (educational arm of American Bankers’ Association which later became Center for Financial Training, non-profit training for the financial services industry).
Karen received LWVTC volunteer of the year award; AAUW named gift award; 14 ABA national leadership awards, SafeHaven top volunteer award. She spends time with family and friends entertaining, cooking, reading, yoga, travel, and Happy Feet walkers!
