California Secretary of State and Stockton Mayor Address Hundreds of Grassroots Leaders for the League of Women Voters of California Convention, “A Capitol Connection” in Sacramento

Hundreds of delegates representing local Leagues of Women Voters throughout the state will gather for their biennial convention, themed “A Capitol Connection,” on June 1-4 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento. California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs, and California Budget and Policy Center Executive Director Chris Hoene are a few of the speakers who will address attendees. “This weekend, hundreds of our grassroots members are showing up in full force to lobby our state government and collaborate on increasing Californians’ participation in civic life,” said League of Women Voters of California President Helen Hutchison. “This exciting event serves as a reminder that the League won’t stop fighting to make sure Californians’ voting rights are protected and their elections are open and fair.”

During the convention, grassroots leaders will plan for future advocacy and education efforts across California. League members will adopt the League’s biennial program, elect officers and the board of directors, approve the budget and bylaw changes, participate in educational workshops, and lobby state officials.
