Meet the candidates for Alameda County Supervisor District 1 on Monday, February 10th at Fremont City Hall chambers, 3300 Capitol Ave, Fremont.

The League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City will moderate the forum. All four candidates will be present:
  • Fremont Councilman Vinnie Bacon
  • Dublin Mayor David Haubert
  • Dublin Councilwomen Melissa Hernandez
  • State Senator Bob Wieckowski.
The current Supervisor Scott Haggerty is retiring after 24 years of service.

LEARN HOW TO BE A TRAINED OBSERVER

We are so excited to launch our new Observer Corps! This group will observe city councils, OC Board of Education, OC Board of Supervisors and various OC public boards. We currently have 5 cities covered, 3 County boards and the Board of Ed -- but we need more and we need YOU! We will be a Corps of informed citizens that gets together socially and intellectually to share the info we have learned. Come be a part of the Observer Corps and train on how to be a fully informed citizen.

Moderated by the League of Women Voters of Western Nevada County, a nonpartisan organization, the forums are for congressional, state, and local offices to be on the March 3 Primary Election ballot. All official candidates were invited to the forums.

The League of Women Voters of Santa Barbara and its Education Fund are sponsoring a Candidate Forum in Carpinteria.  Each Candidate will be asked the same list of questions and provided equal time to answer. The LWVMC Programming Meeting will begin at 12:30 PM followed by the Board Meeting at 1:30 PM.  Everyone welcome!

Every other year Leagues across the nation meet to consider what new studies or existing positions  should be adopted and/or emphasized at the upcoming LWVUS convention.  At the same meeting our League considers issues it would like to see studied or emphasized at the local level.
