When did you become a Leaguer?
I became a Leaguer when I joined the League of Women Voters of Greater Los Angeles in 2022.
What does the idea of strength mean to you?
Strength is about the resilience to bounce back from setbacks and the determination to create a better future for all. Strength is also the willingness to embrace new perspectives and change, as this is necessary for growth and progress.
How do you harness your strength to take action?
I harness my strength to take action through an enduring commitment to advocating for the equitable treatment of all marginalized groups.
What are you most proud of doing?
I am most proud of obtaining my PhD in sociology.
What did you dream of doing when you were young?
When I was young I wanted to be a lawyer.
Who are your role models?
My parents who immigrated to the US from Jamaica, my grandfather who is a civil rights attorney, and my mentors in college and graduate school.

My strength and action influenced the League during my time as the Executive Director of LWVGLA. Also, I am honored that I can share my expertise in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion through my work on the DEI Committees for LWVC and LWVUS.
