If you took action earlier this year and urged legislators to vote YES on AB 2841 (Low) – Thank you! The legislation will prevent mistaken voter registration cancellations and protect the voting rights of people with disabilities under conservatorship. We need your help for one last push. This bill will soon reach the Governor’s desk – Urge Governor Newsom to sign AB 2841 into law!
Specifically, this bill will:
Require county elections officials to notify voters before they are removed from the voter rolls
Allow voters to stop mistaken voter registration cancellations
Protect the rights of eligible voters under conservatorship
Inaccurate voter registration cancellations disproportionately impact eligible voters who are already underrepresented in our electorate, including those who are Black, Brown, Indigenous, or other people of color, low-income, and young people. Voters with disabilities are also subject to inaccurate voter registration cancellations and are underrepresented in our democracy – during the last national election, voters with disabilities were about 6 percent less likely to vote than the overall eligible voter population. Stand with the League of Women Voters of California and ACLU California Action in support of AB 2841.
Can we count on you to urge Governor Newson to sign AB 2841?
the lwvc never backs down from a fight for democracy and for our future
These are difficult times to hold on to our resolve, but we are the League of Women Voters. Resolve is in our DNA. Please give to the LWVC Action Fund today so, together, we can keep bringing the League’s voice and influence to all of the policy work needed to build a better future . Now is not the time for us to back down.
